School Kits

LWR.png
Why school supplies? To the children who receive School Kits, these supplies mean the difference between getting an education or not. Public school is usually free, but in the places where LWR works, even a few required supplies, like pens and paper, may be more than many families can afford. And when parents can only afford to send one of their children to school, girls rarely get priority…yet the education level of mothers has the biggest impact on development.
We are collecting items again for the school kits. Keep these items in mind when out shopping. Collection box is in the Narthex.
Pads or Notebooks of ruled paper
(approximately 8-1/2 x 11” containing 150-200 sheets) Blunt Scissors
30-centimeter Ruler
Pencil Sharpener
New Pencils with Erasers
Erasers (approx. 2-1/2” long)
Box of Crayons (8-24 Count)
Each of the kits for the children contains  4 spiral 70 page  notebooks, 1 ruler, 5 No. 2 pencils, 5 ball point pens, a package of crayons (16 or 24 size), 1 pair of scissors, 1 pencil sharpener, and 1 pink eraser.  The items most needed are usually the ones that are shown underlined, so you are encouraged to consider those as you continue to enable these kids to go to school.  This week we got 2 more kits packed, bringing the new total to 61. Many thanks to all for your generosity. and thoughtfulness!
